Chalait: Green Tea Latte

FINALLY! My first entry on food. I was debating on what should be my first one and there was one place that kept popping into my mind. CHALAIT. It seemed like a very raved about place when I was scrolling through Instagram, so one day I decided to stop by hoping it was as good as it seemed.

When we finally got there, it was PACKED with people, so we had no hopes of getting any seats. The space itself was somewhat small with some tables by the window and some seats around the counter. Being that the space is somewhat small, it can get crowded easily. I also noticed it can get a bit noisy, so if you want a more spacious setting for intimate/private conversations, this might not be the best place for it. So with that said, we decided to just grab our drinks to go.

I got a chance to look at the menu and noticed they had quite a few options for green tea drinks. (Other than drinks, they do have some food options, along with some baked goods.) Being someone that really enjoys green tea, it was the main reason why I wanted to stop by this place. I had not looked up what was the most popular drink at Chalait, which was a mistake I had made. Not knowing what some of the drinks were, I decided to just get a green tea latte ($4.75) in hopes that any of their green tea drinks would be good. I was wrong in thinking so. When the lattes came, they looked beautifully made with a heart design in the center. We noticed it looked very milky and not as green as other green tea lattes we had before, but we still hoped it tasted as good as it looked.

To my surprise, it was my least favorite green tea latte I have had so far. Drinking it, it was smooth, but it lacked green tea flavor. I felt like I was drinking drinking milk with a TINY amount of green tea flavor more than a green tea latte. I have never had such a weak green tea latte before. I was shocked that this drink was about $5 and it barely tasted like anything I had hoped it would taste. Maybe it was my expectations and personal preference, but I tend to like my green tea strong and was hoping it would give me something close to it. It resulted in a disappointment for me, personally. I can only blame myself for having high expectations and not ordering the Green Tea Cortado instead. I do want to go back one day and try their Green Tea Cortado in hope it will redeem itself in terms of green tea flavor. I also have yet to try their food which looks great, but there is more to food than looks.
